Elephant kills 12 females over spurned advances
A gorilla has killed 12 elephants in his care.
Rajon DeRosa of the New York Zoo says the zoo killed the creatures due to their ‘unreasonable aggressive behaviour’.
He said the killings were in keeping with the zoo’s animal welfare code.
Mr DeRosa said the gorillas “were the only survivors of the attack.
“We’re shocked by the result,” he said.
“The gorilla has killed 12 elephants over five years at th우리카지노e New York Zoo and no one has ever killed an elephant before and we’re very grateful that the gorilla was able to demonstrate how to defend himself.”
Tanzania has been the focus of a debate for years about whether elephants killed at their homes should be killed or be euthanased.
Some zoo-goers, including former US president Bill Clinton and actor Johnny Depp, say this is not humane.
One zoo worker says that an elephant might take 10 years to grow old and kill it because it could never do so in captivity.
Some have also raised questions about how elephants will be killed and whether their body parts will be sold for use in human medical research.
The zoo said바카라사이트 they would not answer questions about how many have been killed, but they said one female had been killed in the last three years in what is called ‘non-우리카지노specific aggression’ in which females seek out new territory to establish themselves in the bush, where they are fed and surrounded by male chimpanzees.
They say it is impossible to distinguish male from female aggression.
In their report, the zoo said: “Most of the attacks occurred on the same sites at night as well.
“Gorillas are normally active during the day, but during the night time they have been known to stay hidden and not interact much with their enclosure mates.”
In a separate incident, there were nine attacks in 2014 at an elephant enclosure at the zoo, with another 19 taking place in 2013 and 2013 respectively.
