Accused gippsland arsonist faces court; case is delayed from Thursday

A court in Tasmania has heard two people are facing arson charges after allegedly setting fire to a historic house in the northern city of Gippsland.

An attorney for the accused was granted access to a sealed document and asked the court to enter a preliminary determination on the charge.

His mother and two brothers have also been charged by police and are also expected to appear in court today.

The accused has not yet entered a plea on those charges.

An initial appearance date for Mr Denton was yet to be scheduled.

The fire came after the accused went on Facebook and posted a video of himself trying to ignite a mobile phone on April 21.

The alleged Facebook video was removed but was included in the media on Monday and showed a gippsland resident smoking cannabis with another man who appeared to be under 18.

Mr Denton told his lawyers he had been making videos of “tricks and tricks” when he was watching the video and was using a lighter to light marijuana.

He also admitted trying to light a nail bomb inside the house and that it 평택출장안마 평택출장샵was a “brilliant prank”.

‘I wish he’d stop’

Barrister James Wilson said the video footage was made after a confrontation broke out in front of the house.

Mr Wilson said Mr Denton admitted to being intoxicated and that he had no idea it would turn into something like that.

Mr Denton had previously admitted to setting fire to a home at Port Ellen and the following year had the same plea as Mr Wilson and was found not guilty.
